Editorial Glitter Confetti Makeup

I was recently involved in a really fun editorial photo shoot for Makeup Masters Australia

with the wonderful Sky Dixon and Eliza Hoyland. This look was so fun and bright but also incredibly easy to do so I thought i would share it with you as i think it would be brilliant for a special occasion or a fancy dress party. In the look I did for the shoot I only attached the pieces of confetti with a little bit of Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream because I needed to take it strait off again and also provide some moisture to her eye lids as this was the final look for the day and she had already had 3 previous looks the poor thing!

Now there is a right way of doing and a wrong way to do this but it is relatively easy as long as you follow this technique. You can either find a loose gold pigment or just a gold eyeshadow, Spritz your brush with a fixing spray and apply up to the brow bone. This way if there is any gaps in your confetti there will be some gold peaking through. I would use a few dots of Duo Latex Free lash adhesive, I like this one because it doesn't irritate as much and comes with a little brush which makes it really easy to draw exactly where you want to place the confetti. Another few products I like to use for glitters is the Too Faced Glitter Glue, Ben Nye Glitter Glue and MAC Mixing medium. Try to find the smaller pieces to place near the lash line as the larger pieces will make it difficult to open your eyes! The confetti I used I found at a local $2 shop and was surprisingly thin making it easy for my model to open her eyes. Once the base of the lashes is done you can start applying the larger pieces above the crease of the eye and up toward the outer edge of the brow. As long as you are not gluing directly in to the socket line you should be ok. only use a tiny dot of glue as you don't want this to be difficult to remove.

The most effective way to remove glitter is by using an oil or balm cleanser. This will break down the glue at the same time as being very very gentle on your eyelids. Gently massage the oil or balm on the lids then wipe away with some cotton to get the bulk off. Add a little more remover then place a warm flannel or microfibre cloth, I love the ones from Priceline and remove the rest from the inner corner of the eye toward the temple.

Do NOT over rub your eyes this is a very sensitive area and do not pull down toward the lash line with glitter ever as this runs the risk of getting into your eyes. Always use cosmetic grade glitter on the eyes and not craft glitter as the corners of the glitter are sharp. The confetti is alright as it feels like gold leaf.
